Padmbhushan Dr. Karmveer Bhaurao Patil founded Rayat Shikshan sanstha in 1919. Rayat Shikshan Sanstha is one of the leading educational institutions, imparting quality education to the all the sections of the society. Since its inception in 1991 Shri. Raosaheb Ramrao Patil Mahavidyalaya has continued the legacy of the Sanstha for the last 25 years and has imparted quality education to the needy and deprived people of the society.

It is Art and Science streams Coeducation College offering undergraduate programme to B.A and B.Sc. It is Grant-in-aid College and affiliated to Shivaji University Kolhapur. The college offers five degree subjects at special level- Marathi, Hindi, Geography, English and Chemistry. History, Psychology, Economics and Political Science as well as Botany, Zoology, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics are optional subjects up to B.A-II and B. Sc.-II.
